In the absence of 666philb I have had a stab at creating a XenialPup64.
Brexit Pup is based on XenialPup64-7.0.8.4 k 4.9.15 (Huge_kernel) woof-CE "testing branch" built September 2017
using forum member wiak's makepup script version 0.0.9
Brexit requires a minimum of an i3 CPU or the AMD equivalent.
It is available as an image file that needs to be installed to a 8GB or larger USB2 or 3 stick.
Initial install of the image is to a 8GB stick only if the true capacity of the stick is sufficient. If it is not, a larger stick must be used.
Main features include:
1. Latest Ubuntu fixes and security updates for Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS (Xenial Xerus)
2. FbBox-5.0 - Released 23rd Sept 2017
3. Chrome Version 61.0.3163.100 (Official Build) (64-bit) with custom wrapper & updater (GetLatest64bitChromeVersionWoofCE-MK8.pet)
4. Pale Moon Version: 27.4.2 (64-bit) with updater & CYTS addon 5.7.36.1
5. Thunderbird64_release_channel updated to 52.3.0 (64-bit)
6. mpv
7. SimpleScreenRecorder (SSR)
8. Built in startup sound with a few sound clip choices combined with a loss of Internet connection alarm at boot time.
In addition the same script now includes the optional launch of an Internet TV news channel at boot time.
There is also an option to allow the channel to be launched in windowed (default) or full-screen mode.
None of this comes into operation until the Quicksetup/first-run has been completed.
Please see the text copy of the startup-sound script in the download folder for further information.
9. YouTube Leanback accessed via the Sky News icon on wbar. Press Esc to return to the main menu/search facility.
Brexit Pup Stage 2 - Released 15th January 2018
Main Changes:
1. Now based on 666philb's official Xenial Pup64 CE 7.5 that was released on 25th Nov 2017 but uses instead the later Linux 4.14.2 kernel.
Currently, this PUP contains 666philb's bugfixes up to and including 31/12/17 which contain the Android “mtp phone connect” fix.
The "Quickpet xenial" menu item is operational for any of 666philb’s future updates and bugfixes to the base Pup.
2. Additional wallpapers plus 3 brief test videos accessible via the red CYTS icon on wbar at the top of the screen.
That icon launches the Chrome app "Video Player" which targets the folder /mnt/home/Complete YouTube Saver
That same folder is also set as the default location for videos saved using the "Complete YouTube Saver" add-on within Pale Moon.
Additional local or accessible network locations may be added to the Chrome app "Video Player" which will then aggregate and
display the complete contents for selection to play locally. Please do NOT use the cast icon within "Video Player" as clicking it
will trash the App and as from January 2018 Google apps can no longer be updated or re-installed.
If using a Chromecast use the cast icon within Chrome itself.
3. More prominence given to the included Chrome vGET Cast App's ability to cast local videos to Smart TVs with a new dedicated TV icon on wbar.
4. The following updated Internet services are built-in - (Each can be updated over this PUP’s lifetime):
a. Google Chrome Stable version 63.0.3239.132 (With parallel downloading enabled)
b. Thunderbird 52.5.2
c. Pale Moon 27.6.2
d. Flash 28.0.0.137
e. Ad Blockers are pre-installed for both Pale Moon & Chrome.
5. Some fixes plus more conservative timing settings are included.
6. Window Manager is still FbBox-5.0.
7. Supports UEFI PCs in CSM mode & has support for older Bioses that may not normally boot from a USB stick.
Where to obtain the image:
brexitpupstage2.img.xz (774MB) --- plus md5sum & a copy of the startup-sound script.
